Final Clinic in Pucallpa     17 April, 2025, 10:33 am
The final clinic in Pucallpa was held in the Shipibo church that we visited on Sunday night. It was a busy day, with 182 people coming for treatment. Many Shipibo women were happy to receive glasses in order to be able to see better to do their painting and sewing. The traditional skirts that they wear have intricate designs on them and are all hand sewn. It takes 2-3 months for them to make a skirt. Imagine how much easier it is for them when they can clearly see the needle and thread! As each person went through the clinic, they stopped at different stations that attended to their physical needs- from registration to triage, to the doctors, to glasses if needed. Before going to the final station- pharmacy- they stopped at a station where their spiritual needs were addressed. Everyone had the opportunity, if they wanted it, to have someone pray with them, tell them more about Jesus, or ask to have someone follow up with them later. It was a great medical camp in Pucallpa this week. We were able to treat a total of 428 people and give out 185 pairs of reading glasses. Through these physical needs being met, many people came to know the Lord, and many more will be followed up with later. Thank you very much for helping to make this happen. Your prayers, financial support, care for our families at home, and your encouragement make you all an important part of the team. If you know the Lord, you will one day meet up with Shipibo brothers and sisters thst tou helped bring to Christ. And how do we end a great week? Why, with another great meal of course! The whole team thoroughly enjoyed spending time together and talking (some making good use of their translation apps!) over a meal of pollo a la braza- sort of like our rotisserie chicken. Peru has good food and wonderful people!

Second Clinic in Pucallpa     17 April, 2025, 10:29 am
This morning we traveled to a village about 30 minutes away for the second medical clinic. We were able to start earlier today, and before long, we had a long line of people waiting to be seen. The people waitedt patiently in little chairs from the inside of the elementary school where we were holding the clinic. By the end of the day we had treated 151 people and all the people who came were able to be treated; we didn’t have to turn anyone away. We also gave out 65 pairs of reading glasses to people who needed them. The pastor and ocal team were encouraged by the results of the clinic. They told us that 26 people accepted Christ as their Savior today. I’d call that a good day.

The First Medical Clinic in Pucallpa     14 April, 2025, 11:48 pm
Today we held our first medical clinic in the Pucallpa area. It was about an hour’s boat ride from the town of Pucallpa. We expected there to be a lot of people from different villages, but we found out that the road that connects some of the villages was still covered in waist-deep water. Unfortunately the prople in that village don’t have canoes, because their trees are not big enough yet to be carved into s canoe As it was, we actually had the perfect number of people come to the clinic. We so appreciate your prayers. Things went very smoothly, and the team worked really well together, even with the challenge of sometimes having to translate to a third language God blessed us with a beautiful day, and a steady breeze. We were able to treat about 95 people today, and approximately 30 of them were given reading glasses. In the pictures, notice the lady sitting on the ground in the orange shirt she had just received her glasses, and she immediately sat in the shade and started worming on her embroidery. She is one of the reasons why we were there. We are looking forward to a good night’s rest and another great day tomorrow.

Sunday Services in Pucallpa     14 April, 2025, 07:21 am
Sunday was a great day getting together with other believers at 2 different church services. This morning, we attended the church service with Casey and Giuly ( our hosts and partners here). It was really nice to worship alongside some of the team that we will be working with this week. Then in evening, we attended a service at a Shipibo church in a neighborhood of Pucallpa. Phil preached at the service, and that is where we will hold the clinic on Wednesday. The people here have been extremely kind and welcoming. The team is doing well, and we appreciate your continued prayers as we begin the clinics.

Meeting our Teammates in Peru     13 April, 2025, 07:06 am
On Saturday, we met some of the Peruvian team that we will be working with at the clinics. We bagged vitamins, sorted meds, and spent some time getting to know each other a little. We then had a great meal together of “Peruvian Chinese” food for lunch. And not to keep going on the topic of food, but the empanadas we had for supper were amazing! We have a great group of people that we will be working with, and we are all excited to start the medical camp on Monday. This is a first time run for the clinics here, so please be praying. Thank you!
