Day 3 in Isiolo
27 June, 2025, 10:47 am
The third day of Medical Camp ended with 281 people being treated, and 31 people receiving reading glasses. This village was close to the paved road, but still, the people walked to the clinic- some from quite a distance. One young girl that came told me that she lives near the forest, and her father has 3 ostriches that live at her home in the village. She was proud of the fact that they have these ostriches and wanted me to come to the forest to see them.
When we are at the clinic, we don’t have just random people there to help with registering people and translating. The people helping are there for a specific reason- they are part of the church-planting team who live there and will continue the work long after we leave. The contacts they made with people today will allow them to go into other villages and begin to share why we held a free medical camp for them. As the relationships develop, discussion will turn to the Bible and eventually the people will be introduced to Jesus. Then new churches will be planted, and the cycle will continue.
The team had a good day today. In addition to the attention that everyone who came to the clinic received from the doctors, nurses, and other volunteers, several people with wounds were helped, others were treated by a physical therapist. Also, it never gets old to see the smiling faces of people who can finally see better with the glasses they received. Kids were given stickers, pencils, and wooden whistles. The local pastor was given a soccer ball to use in ministry with the kids.

Day 1 Ngaremara, Isiolo, Kenya
26 June, 2025, 03:34 pm
We completed Day 1 of the medical camp in Isiolo, Kenya. The village of Ngaremara is about 1/2 hour outside of Isiolo town. The majority of the people there come from the Turkana tribe. 273 people were served today, and 35 of them received reading glasses, complete with fabric cases hand-made by some friends in Maine. The local team was encouraged by the connections they were able to make with the people here. We are thousands of miles from home, in a completely different time zone, in a different climate, in a different culture with different languages, yet some things are the same. We all want to have encouragement, hope, and help when we need it- the difference comes in what satisfies some of that. Here, we see the encouragement on the face of someone whose smile lights up their face because they can suddenly see well enough to read or sew or work on beads. We see the help that someone received because they are walking away holding the medication that will take away the infection that is making their child sick. Then there’s hope- some of the things the people received today will give them a temporary hope- relief from pain and sickness. But soon, they will learn of the true hope that they can have- hope in Jesus Christ who loves them and wants to walk beside them and fulfill their hope with an eternal life with Him. And even thousands of miles away, back at home, people still need that same hope- and it is found in the same place that it is found here- in Jesus. So maybe we aren’t so different after all?
We are very grateful for a good first day of medical camp. We look forward to tomorrow, and we appreciate your continued prayer for us.

Day 2 Chumvi-Yere, Isiolo, Kenya
25 June, 2025, 03:01 pm
Day 2 of Medical Camp was held in the Turkana village of Chumvi-Yere, about an hour outside of Isiolo town. It was hot and sunny today, but the beautiful breeze made it very comfortable.
There were 309 people came today to receive medications, wound care, and glasses, and some left encouraged because someone took the time to listen to them and pray with them. It is a blessing watching this team of young medical personnel and other volunteers take the time to treat the people here with gentleness and love. We have also been blessed by working with the local teams who are extremely valuable in providing translation, and just being there to make connections with people.
The glasses station was not very busy today- only 5 came to receive reading glasses- and that gave us time to interact with the translators and the local children. It’s fascinating to watch some of the children transition from being leery of us to coming over without hesitation to have their picture taken or to receive a sticker. I have learned that an easy way to get smiles from the kids is to put them in the role of teacher and get them to teach words in their language. They love to have us try to say the words as they correct us and smile and get excited if we say it correctly.
We were also able to give a soccer ball and pump to the local pastor to use in ministry with the kids. It was great to see the excitement on the faces of the older boys as they gathered around to look at the ball.
Lifeway has also been able to make some important connections with people that will help them to continue the work that has been started.
We are thankful to the Lord that we have all been healthy, safe, and connecting as one team. We appreciate you holding us up in prayer.

Isiolo, Kenya June 2025
20 June, 2025, 10:49 am
We have a very small team from EPI on this project. There are actually only 2 of us joining with the Lifeway team from Nairobi. Laurie Pizzo and I arrived at Lifeway in Nairobi at about 11:30 PM on Thursday. We are grateful that all of our luggage and supplies arrived.
Friday we spent sorting and packing the medications and reading glasses. It’s always nice when that task is done, because it feels like we are “ready”. In the afternoon, it started raining- pouring, actually. According to the local weather, this storm is expected to last until about 10 PM. There is a lot of water coming down and settling on top of the ground.
Saturday will be mostly a free day for us, which will be a bonus. Since the place we are going to hold the clinics, Isiolo, is only 5-6 hours away, we won’t have to do as much traveling.
Thank you for following the project and praying for us. If you want to see more pictures, you can follow Eagle Projects International on Facebook.
