Moyale, Kenya September 2024
24 December, 2024, 11:34 am
In September of 2024, we took team of 7 (2 from the US and 5 from Scotland) to Moyale, Kenya. Moyale is a border town located in both Kenya and Ethiopia.
We conducted a 5-day medical clinic where over 1330 people were served. It was such an encouraging time to see people coming for treatment who wouldnt normally go to Christians for help.
When we left, the church-planting team was very encouraged to continue their work and followup on the many contacts they made.

Balesa and Dukana, Kenya June 2024
23 December, 2024, 10:23 pm
What a privilege we had to be able to return to Balesa. A year ago, we had to leave the area without finishing the medical camp due to a sudden change in the government requirements. The area leaders remembered that our partners at Lifeway had promised to return. It was great to be able to keep that promise.
We also spent a couple of days working with the Gabbra in Balesa, a brand new area for the Lifeway team.
In the end, we were able to treat 1054 people and give away 239 pairs of glasses, including 100 pairs of sunglasses. The kids also enjoyed the soccer balls.

Oldonyiro, Kenya January, 2024
23 December, 2024, 09:29 pm
The medical project to Oldonyiro, Kenya in January of 2024 seemed to be all about trusting the Lord that His plan is better than ours. Some of the places we had planned to hold clinics had to be changed due to rain. But it was in those forced changes that we were able to see how God already had a plan in place.
In one location, we were able to help a man with a serious leg injury get the bandages he needed- because we were there at that time.
Another day, the rain prevented us from getting to the village we were "supposed to" go to. Because we had to change locations, we ended up in an area where there was a food relief program in progress, and many more people could be treated. And the people from the village we weren't able to go to? Well, our new location was close enough that they were able to walk to it.
The rain continued so that on the final day, we were not able to go anywhere to do a clinic. In fact, so many of the roads were impassable, that we were not even able to head back to Nairobi. So instead, we held a clinic right outside the hotel where we stayed.
By the end of the week, we had not only treated 956 people, but the church planting team was very encouraged by the contacts made with the local people and the increased opportunities for outreach.

Soroti, Uganda November 2023
23 December, 2024, 09:02 pm
In November, 2023, EPI did a 2-day pilot medical camp in Soroti, Uganda. We worked in 2 villages among the Kumam and Iteso people.
The weather was quite challenging at times, with torrential rain that left us all standing in mud and water. But the dedicated team that we worked with kept on working untisl all the people who had come to the clinic were served.
At the end of the two days, we had treated 450 people and distributed 156 pairs of reading glasses.
We thank the Lord for a productive trip and a wonderful team to work with while in Uganda.

Balesa, Kenya June 2023
4 August, 2023, 04:24 pm
In June of this year, we traveled with a team of 3 from the US to Balesa, Kenya, to conduct a medical camp with Lifeway Mission among the Gabbra tribe.
We traveled for 2 days from Nairobi and into the Chalbi Desert to reach our destination. On our last clinic, we traveled another 2 hours into the desert to reach a remote village.
Each day, we were welcomed with a meal of freshly slaughtered goat, rice, and cabbage. The people were very kind and accommodating.
Many people traveled from a distance of 35-120 km through the desert in order to reach the medical camp. It was really great to see the local people volunteer to let those from a great distance be treated before them.
Due to some last minute governmental policy changes concerning medical camps, we had to stop after only 2 hours into our third clinic. But, we all know that God was not surprised by that, and we are thankful for the 135 people we were able to treat in just 2 hours.
A total of 602 people were served during the medical camp. Though we were sad to have to leave early, we left on good terms with the village chief and the people there, and they want us to come back to finish the medical camp in Balesa.
